Since the days of Stonewall, we have been transforming lives in LGBTQ+ communities through excellent comprehensive care, provided free of judgment and regardless of ability to pay. In addition, we are continuously pioneering research, advocacy and education to drive positive change around the world, because we believe healthcare is a human right.

Our Mission:

Callen-Lorde Community Health Center provides sensitive, quality health care and related services targeted to New York’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities — in all their diversity — regardless of ability to pay. To further this mission, Callen-Lorde promotes health education and wellness, and advocates for LGBTQ+ health issues.

About the Role:

Callen-Lorde is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Clinical Director of Sexual Health (Clinical Director) to provide medical leadership and vision to our Sexual Health care services. In this critical role, you will oversee both the clinical and organizational aspects of the program, ensuring that sexual health services—including Long-Acting Injectables (LAI) and oral PrEP—are seamlessly integrated into primary care.

In addition to programmatic leadership, you will serve as a primary care provider, delivering sensitive, high-quality, and non-judgmental medical care, screening, diagnoses, and treatment. This role is ideal for a collaborative clinician-leader dedicated to medical excellence, quality improvement, and clinical leadership within a mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Leadership & Program Development: Provide medical leadership for the Sexual Health program across all clinic sites and telemedicine. Seek opportunities to grow the program, optimize electronic health records (EHR) with HIT, and develop video visits and remote lab collection.

  • Quality Assurance & Improvement (QI): Partner with the Chief Medical Officer to establish Clinical Practice Guidelines. Design and monitor sexual health quality metrics, conduct chart reviews to ensure appropriate standards of care, and complete at least one Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycle annually.

  • Primary Care & Clinical Practice: Deliver comprehensive, high-quality primary care according to pre-arranged schedules. Provide clinical care to patients living with HIV, and maintain clinical competency through continuing education. Participate in after-hours on-call rotations and serve as Administrator on Duty (AOD) as needed.

  • Staff Education & Mentorship: Lead and educate staff on sexual health updates, circulate a monthly clinical newsletter, and provide in-service trainings. Assist teams in optimizing clinical productivity and ensuring visit volume benchmarks are met.

  • Personnel Management & Team Building: Supervise department staff, foster a supportive and collaborative work environment, and manage conflict resolution. Actively participate in the hiring cycle, coordinate onboarding, and conduct regular performance reviews.

  • Compliance & Collaboration: Ensure urgent care and sexual health services align with CDC and NYC DOHMH guidelines. Maintain full compliance with Callen-Lorde’s policies, HIPAA regulations, and all annual mandatory safety and compliance trainings.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time exempt position with regular business hours. Occasional evenings and on-call coverage are required.

Benefits

Salary will be accompanied by an excellent benefits package including an exceptional low-cost medical plan option for you and your family, dental insurance, vision insurance, no-cost life insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts, Tuition Assistance, Commuter Benefits, a generous paid time off plan, and a 403B retirement savings plan.
